Vapor Pressure Lowering in Brines and Implications for Formation of a High Temperature Reservoir

چکیده

Introduction That a “high temperature reservoir” (HTR) underlies a “typical” vapor-dominated reservoir under certain circumstances is well known (Drenick, 1986; Pruess et al., 1987; Walters et al., 1988). However, formation and behavior of such a feature is poorly understood. Recent theories regarding the behavior of the HTR fall into one of two broad categories: transient and steady state. In the transient models (e.g., Drenick, 1986; Walters et al., 1988; Truesdell, 1991), the HTR is a component of the typical vapordominated reservoir for a relatively short period of time.. These models generally assume either a recent boiling of a liquid system (a fossil liquid system; Drenick, 1986; Walters et al., 1988), or downward extension of the ‘4 pical” reservoir into hot dry rock (Truesdell, 1991 Steady state models (Shook, 1993a; Lai et al., 1994) consider the HTR as a steady component of the geothermal reservoir. As in the case of the transient theories, several different explanations are given for the formation of the HTR. For example, Shook (1993a) used vapor pressure lowering in a fractured domain to develop an HTR, whereas Lai et al. (1 994) used non-uniform heating in a porous media in forming the HTR.

Determination of Hydrate Phase Equilibrium Curve Using High-Pressure Visual Cell

This study aimed to construct the hydrate three-phase equilibrium curves for two typical Iranian gas reservoir samples using a high-pressure visual cell. To do so, complete analysis of the reservoir fluids was obtained by different techniques of composition analysis i.e. gas chromatography (GC) and detailed hydrocarbon analysis (DHA). Using high-pressure visual cell the hydrate phase equili...

Numerical Study of Spherical Vapor Layer Growth Due to Contact of a Hot Object and Water

Vapor film formation and growth due to contact of a hot body and other liquids arise in some industrial applications including nuclear fuel rods, foundry and production of paper. The possibility of a steam explosion remains in most of these cases which could result in injuries and financial damage. Due to the importance of such phenomenon, this study deals with vapor layer forming, growth, and ...

Fluid density distribution in a high temperature, stratified thermohaline system: implications for saline hydrothermal circulation

Density distribution within the Salton Sea geothermal system, of fluids ranging from 20°C to 325X, has been computed using chemical and thermal data from geothermal production well tests and curve-fit models of Na-Ca-K chloride solution properties. Density corrections can easily be made to iO.01 g/cm3 for solute effects of each of the dominant chloride salts as well as pressure above vapor satu...

Experimental and Simulation - Assisted Feasibility Study of Gas Injection to Increase Oil Recovery Using a Combination of Semi-VAPEX and GAGD Techniques

Gas injection into heavy oil reservoirs could result in high ultimate recovery of oil. Experimental studies showed that an application of a combined technology of Gas Assisted Gravity Drainage (GAGD) and Vapor Extraction (VAPEX) could increase final oil recovery of a candidate viscous oil reservoir. In this paper the results of laboratory investigation are presented, including Pressure-Volu...

Historical changes of temperature and vapor pressure deficit during the crop growing season in Iran

Climate change variables have rarely been analyzed specifically for the growing season of crops. In this study, changes in minimum (Tmin) and maximum temperature (Tmax), daily maximum saturated vapor pressure (VPsat) and estimated daily VPD weighted for transpiration (VPDtran) were examined at five locations in Iran over 40 years during the growing seasons of chickpea and maize. The results of ...
